UNIQUE SLEEPOVERS GIVE VISITORS BEHIND THE SCENES EXPERIENCE
AT SAN DIEGO NORTH ATTRACTIONS
ESCONDIDO, Calif. - -Spending the night listening to a pack of snoring rhinoceroses or waking up surrounded by sharks may not be for everyone, but for visitors looking for “unique accommodations” will find it in San Diego North. Many of the area attractions provide overnight programs for visitors looking for a different way to experience these popular points of interest.
The following is a list of San Diego North attractions offering unique sleepover programs:
Wild Animal Park – Overlooking the park’s Kilima Point, where exotic residents of the East Africa Field Exhibit reside, there are several types of overnight stays available at the 1,800-acre park. All programs include camp activities, guided walks, animal encounters and a private Wgasa Bush Line Railway tour. The package includes next-day admission to the park.
Sea World – After visiting the park, visitors can unroll their sleeping bags and wake up beside the manatees, sharks, beluga whales or penquins. The next day includes free admission to the park following breakfast and a morning activity.
Midway – Visitors can find out first hand what it’s like to wake up aboard a real aircraft carrier by spending the night on the USS Midway. The minimum age is 5 accompanied by a participating member of the family over 21 years old. Sleeping quarters are gender-based with chaperones.
San Diego Zoo – At the Zoo’s Camp Timbuktu, visitors are treated to a magic show, private bus tour, campfire activities and nighttime stroll around the zoo. The Safari Sleepover starts in the afternoon and ends the next morning. The program includes dinner, a hot breakfast, snacks and a souvenir T-shirt.
Birch Aquarium - At the Birch Aquarium at Scripps in La Jolla, guests bed down for the night among the aquarium’s inhabitants, and participants take part in activities such as bioluminescence experiments. The Asleep in the Deep program includes evening snacks and breakfast.
