San Diego Beaches Locations:

Oceanside City Beach
This beach not only has a wide stretch of sand, but it also has the longest pier on the West Coast, playground equipment, restrooms, showers and approximately 70 fire rings. Parking charges vary. Surf chairs are available for the disabled.

Carlsbad State Beach
A seawall spanning approximately 1 mile makes this a popular place for walking and jogging. Free parking is available on Carlsbad Boulevard and at the Tamarack parking lot at the southern tip of the seawall.

South Carlsbad State Beach
This beach is known for the breathtaking rental campsites on the cliff overlooking the beach. There are no day-use facilities here.

Beacon's Beach, Encinitas
For those who can tackle the primitive trail leading down the steep cliff to the beach, there are almost 3 miles of narrow beaches to explore. Free parking is available in a small lot at the access point.

Stone Steps, Encinitas
A long stairway leads down to a rocky beach that is popular with surfers, swimmers and fishermen. There is limited street parking.

Moonlight Beach, Encinitas
An active beach heavily monitored by lifeguards, this is an excellent choice for visitors with children. Access for the handicapped is available. A fresh coat of sand is poured on rocky portions of the beach each May. There are restrooms, showers, a snack bar and free parking.

Swami's Beach, Encinitas
Large waves make this San Diego beach renowned by surfers. There is little sand, however, there is a lush, shady picnic area with restrooms at the top of the cliff overlooking the beach. Free parking is available.

San Elijo State Beach, Cardiff
Camping with beach access is available as well as a concession stand, drinking water, restrooms and a parking lot. There is a day-use fee.

Cardiff State Beach
Although narrow and rocky in many spots, this beach is nonetheless appealing. Pets are allowed on a leash. There are no facilities. Cardiff's Restaurant Row is at the north end of the beach.

Tide Beach Park, Solana Beach
Tide Beach Park is frequented by naturalists who are fascinated with the large reef and tide pools found at this San Diego beach. The beach park also features excellent surfing and snorkeling. There is free parking along the street.

Fletcher Cove, Solana Beach
This San Diego beach is for those who like to combine beaching with other activities such as surfing and basketball. There are also restrooms, showers, picnic tables, and excellent viewpoints. A parking lot with 90 spaces is available free of charge.

North Seascape Surf, Solana Beach
Surfing and swimming are popular activities at this San Diego beach. There are Two parking lots with 58 free spaces.

Torrey Pines State Beach, La Jolla
Located farther south, this San Diego beach is excellent for picnicking, surf fishing and swimming. The Torrey Pines Reserve also offers ample hiking trails. There is no charge for visitors on foot. Auto fees vary. Parking lots are also located along the beach.

La Jolla Shores and La Jolla Cove
La Jolla Shores is a long, flat San Diego beach ideal for families and surfers, while La Jolla Cove offers a Cliffside coast walk for romantic strolls, a sheltered cove for swimming and parks for picnics. Surf chairs are available for the disabled.
